was the date of MK Basketball Association's second
annual junior tournament. Several centimetres of snow the night before brought
about the fear that the tournament would not go ahead but these dangerous road
and weather conditions would not stop our keen young basketballers coming from
across Milton Keynes to compete in our second annual tournament. It didn't even
stop our referees who came from other counties arriving on time.
This year the tournament was divided into two age categories, under 14s and
under 16s, with three teams in each age group. Our thanks goes out to and for supporting our tournament by allowing their
junior teams to participate against our own .
After the dramas of the morning the first game tipped off at a slightly late
11.20am with Shenley . Each team in their age
group would play each other twice in a league format with the top 2 teams
fighting it out for the shield and winners medals.
The leagues turned out to be incredibly close with the last place for the under 16 final
being decided by points scored and conceded,
with Shenley scorpions under 16s going throught to face
by just 1 point at the expense of our very own
under 16s.
The final was a tight, tense affair with both teams having plenty of chances to dominate but
it was who managed to pull a lead and taking
it through to the final whistle.
The Under 14's Final was contested by and .
Once again this was a tight game with the keeping
ahead all the way through the first half. In the second half pulled away to take the game
for their first ever club trophy.
Well done to all the players and a great big thank you to all the volunteers who made the
